In a historic move for The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Kelcy Warren, an esteemed alumnus and
influential figure in the energy sector, has pledged a remarkable $12 million
to the institution. This generous donation, the largest in UTA’s history, is
set to revolutionize the university’s College of Engineering by establishing a
groundbreaking Resource and Energy Engineering (REE) bachelor’s program.

Kelcy Warren, who graduated from UTA in 1978 with a degree in Civil
Engineering, is currently the executive chairman and chairman of the Board of
Directors of Energy Transfer LP. His gift underscores the commitment to
fostering a new generation of engineers adept in managing the complexities of
energy resources in Texas and beyond.

The establishment of the REE program, slated to commence in fall 2023, will equip students with
the skills needed to address critical energy challenges. This innovative
curriculum will cover both traditional and renewable energy sources, ensuring
graduates are well-prepared for the evolving demands of the energy sector.

To honor Kelcy Warren’s unparalleled generosity, UTA is naming several endowed academic
positions and facilities after him. This includes the Kelcy Warren Endowed
Professorship in Resource and Energy Engineering, two Kelcy Warren Endowed
Faculty Fellowships, and the Kelcy Warren Career Experience Center. These
strategic investments aim to attract and retain world-class faculty, provide
cutting-edge research facilities, and offer invaluable career experiences to students.

UTA President Jennifer Cowley expressed gratitude for Warren’s transformative contribution,
highlighting its potential to position the university as a leader in energy
education. Warren’s enduring support, which has spanned over 25 years, reflects
a deep-seated dedication to his alma mater and its mission to advance
educational and professional opportunities for its students. See related link for additional information.
